Day 01
COLOMBO - KNUCKLES
 
Via Pinnawela, visiting the elephant orphanage, its off to the Knuckles range! The Knuckles range of mountains is situated apart from the central highlands of the island by a deeply incised valley of the Mahaweli also called the Dumbara valley. The unique feature of these mountains is its ruggedness, which cannot be seen anywhere else in the island.

Day 02
KNUCKLES
 
Drive to Sphinx where the trek to Thangappuwa will commence.

Sphinx Eyrie to Thangappuwa and back.Twelve km... Four to Five hours. Initially it is an ascent of about Two hundred meters. At Corberts gap, 'The Dumbara Kandavetiya'meaning Misty Mountains is a delight to the human eye. In stark contrast is the entry into the forest with its multiple storied vegetation and bird life along a relatively flat path to the small village of Thangappuwa. After a rest for tea trek back to Sphinx Eyrie and maybe you could observe mixed flock bird species abundant in the area.

Day 03
KNUCKLES
 
More trekking!! Todays twelve km trek takes you along the main road down to the village of Kaikawela. The road ends at Meemure a village steeped in the history of the area. A small path from the village leads you to the Dindi Oya a stream with rock pools of unparallel beauty.

We could arrange a simple village lunch for you at the pools and a discussion with the village elders on the legends, which has come down through the ages.
 Meals included : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  
 
Day 04
COLOMBO
 After spending the morning at leisure, we drive back to Colombo.
 Meals included : Breakfast
  

Private tour : Daily departure from Colombo with a private vehicle and Diethelm guide in the language of your choice (surcharges may apply).

Our package tour prices are inclusive of transfers to / from hotel in Colombo, trekker fees, entrance fees, accommodation on shared twin basis, meals as described in the itinerary (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner), services of a licensed tour guide, service charges and applicable government taxes.  

Not included are optional tours, meals other than described, drinks, personal expenses, tips.
