Kani Lanka Resort & Spa

Kani Lanka is a two and three-storeyed boutique hotel with a broad range of facilities, aimed primarily at the mid-priced package market. Its contemporary design, and shades of sandstone and granite, is a vast improvement on its earlier incarnation, The Sindbad, but we still have some reservations - with a scrubby beach (by Sri Lankan standards) and small rooms among its chief limitations. Its position in coconut groves, between sea, river and lagoon, nevertheless, is highly advantageous.

105 standard rooms, divided into 16 standard a/c rooms with courtyard view, 83 superior a/c rooms looking onto the lagoon or the sea and six suites (one larger room with a sitting and sleeping area). All have balcony or terrace, satellite TV with DVD and in-house movies, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini fridge, room safe, large-headed showers, hairdryer. Suites have a living area and ensuite bathroom with bathtub and h/w shower. Other rooms have shower only.
