Era Beach, a luxurious eight-roomed boutique hotel, adds further lustre to the upmarket beach settlement of Thalpe, a 10-minute drive from the historic city of Galle. Journeys from Colombo’s international airport are about four hours, or take the Air Taxi, which offers flights from the Bandaranaike International Airport directly to Koggala which is just 10 minutes away from Era Beach.
Era Beach unfolds within two beautifully-refurbished colonial-period bungalows which now house the main restaurant and lounge bar. An additional two-storey section houses the bedrooms and blends in seamlessly. A 23-metre swimming pool is the focus of the property and overlooks a garden scattered with palm trees and leading to the turquoise seas. The buildings have tall timber columns and high ceilings, open verandas and courtyards that welcome in the tropical sun and gentle ocean breezes.
There are eight luxurious bedrooms with four on the ground floor opening out to the gardens and the swimming pool and four on the upper floor with spectacular sea views. All rooms are stylishly furnished with four poster beds dressed in fine linen and open out to a private courtyard or balcony. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w shower. In-room facilities include a/c, IDD, satellite TV on request, tea / coffee making facilities, and room service.
Sea View Suites: These four suites are located on the upper floor and opens out to a large balcony with stunning sea views. Upon request private dining is organised on the balcony.
Garden Suites: Two Garden Suites are located by the swimming pool and has a private courtyard.
Lobby Suites: Two Lobby Suites are located off the main lobby area. One is furnished with two antique single beds.
